Subject: What is the Ultimate verdict on Active Sound Design? 435i

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I am not sure why it was not the first thing I coded off to see the difference. Been driving the car for four months. hmmmmm Im torn here. I never really was bothered by it, but will drive a few days with it off to decide whether to turn it back on or not. I primarily drive in Sport + manual mode. Seems to me the sound matches the power better with it on, but I will see. Also RPMs and shifting is a little more cued up to the feel of the car. Could it be possible to say it is a better accurate feel with it on, even though it is fake? Also is it really fake, or just amplified really? IDK, I sort of wish I never knew it existed.

What is the verdict on ASD? On or Off?

Subject: BMW M4 or 440i?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hey everyone,

I am debating between getting an M4 or a 440i. I understand the M4 is the simple answer, but looking at prices as of late, the M4 is about a 10-15k difference. For reference, I'm looking at a 2017+ 440i and I'm okay with any year of the M4. Mileage 30k or under for the 440i and 50k or under for the M4. I can afford the M4 semi-comfortably financially.

What is everyone's opinion on having the 440i or M4 as a semi-daily car? I work from home but when I go into the office its about 15 miles out one way. Exhaust differences? I understand the 440i is a luxury-sport car and the M4 is a sport car. Anything else I may be missing? How's ownership been? I'm coming from a C6 Corvette and a bunch of commuters before that so reliability is something of concern for the BWM as I've never had big reliability issues with my cars before. So not really concerned with gas coming from a v8. I do not track whatsoever.

I've heard just as many youtube videos as anyone else, but I would like the BMW community to chime in on this (specifically those who have heard these vehicles in person with upgraded exhausts, etc). Does the M4 sound good stock, or it NEEDS an exhaust to sound good? (comparing this to my Vette with a Corsa exhaust, and I know these aren't really comparable).

My options would be either save some money (around 10-15k) and get the 440i vs the M4. Or don't save money and get the M4 or upgrade my C6 to a C7. I'm okay with spending the additional 10-15k but is it worth it?

Apologies for all the words! I hope these questions are clear and I appreciate all responses, thanks.

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I know the stock 0-60 is like 4.6 or something like that but I've been reading up on forums and a bunch of people managed to get 3.5s with down pipes, x5m filters, and tunes. Turning off dsc and brake boosting it, has anyone here tried this?

Subject: How do you increase the sound inside the cabin?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

When I hear my car (22 m340i) from the outside it literally sounds like a completely different car. Sometimes the sound is way too quiet and I can’t even hear anything.

My friends STI sounds near identical outside/inside and I know BMW and luxury cars are more insulated and use Active Sound Design.

So how do I remove/make louder/or make it so my car sounds more like it does when you hear it from the outside? I’ve already swapped out the exhaust and added mods to the car. But I really hate how it sounds so different and quieter inside the cabin.

Thanks all! Drive safely!

Subject: Is this 335i a good buy? In terms of price?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

I wanna start by saying that this 335i is the PERFECT spec and is my dream spec...

It’s a blue 2015 335xi M - Performance (MPPSK) with the m performance side skirts and everything. This car looks exactly how I want it to look

Now... it only has 58,000 KMs on it (36,000 miles) and is listed for $34,900 CAD (28,000 USD). The car is in mint condition. What do you guys think?
