Subject: 540i and 340i lease same price, which one to choose?
I think 540i.
Why? If you test 540 and 340 back to back, you will soon realize that the 5 series is really a shortened 7 series, I think it's based on a more advanced CLAR version than the one in 3 series.
And since both 540 and 340 have the same engine pretty much, for the same money, 540i wins it for me for its more advanced chassis.
Or if you just drive both back to back, the 5 series ride is really smooth.
Subject: E70 X5 (2011) Farm smell?!
I’ve got a unique situation that brings the country to my my city-slicker x5.
Now I know the manure/cow dung/horse paddock smell comes from a fungus, likely in the A/C system BUT it only occurs when the following boxes are ticked
- Car parked on an incline (smell doesn’t come if parked on a decline)
- Car not driven for 24 hours or more
The sunroof drain holes aren’t blocked, there is no water leaks in the cabin or boot that I can find, A/C doesn’t smell once it’s running.
The other related/unrelated thing that happened while on the highway during a hot day, was odourless mist came from the A/C vents after giving the A/C a 5 minute rest and running on fan only.
I’ll be doing the ole A/C Lysol clean tomorrow but cannot figure why the smell only happens sometimes.

Subject: Sound Diff Between Cheaper Intake vs More Exp Intake? (CTS vs MST/Dinan for the B58)
I would first like to apologize as this sounds like a very stupid question.
Recently installed a CTS turbo intake on my m340i by the recommendation of my car friend. I’m new to cars so I went with his suggestion. He said it’s just an intake and there’s barely, if any sound difference between the CTS intake vs the MST or Dinan and says the price difference is mainly aesthetics.
Now that it’s installed, I think it sounds great but a part of me wishes I bought the Dinan or MST for more/louder intake sound.
Is there any truth to what my friend said? I find it hard to believe a $500 or $600 intake is the same sound as the cheaper CTS intake. (Strictly talking about sound differences)
Thanks everyone. 🙏

Subject: Hello everyone I’m new here and got some questions.
Hi, I’m starting my journey with cars now, can I ask you guys, the veterans of motorization where do I start? What to read, I’m absorbing knowledge like a sponge and I want to buy BMW, I want to get into the car world but tbh I’m not sure how. Cars that I’m interested in are E92 or e46. Any advice?
Subject: 2006 325i won't start, just a low tremble grunting noise, very low, couldn't really hear it until I paid attention, like a "ummmmmmm" and stops each time I try to start. Any suggestions before a tow?

Subject: E46 owners who have upgraded to a newer BMW: What did you get and how do you like it?
I've had my E46 for a while now and it has 227k miles. I've been thinking about replacing it with something I feel like I can trust a little more because while my car has been reliable so far I don't know that I'd trust it on a long road trip. I've been considering an F22 M235i but I'm not committed to any particular model. I'm just wondering what opinions other people have, my E46 has been a great car and I don't want whatever replaces it to be a letdown as far as driving experience goes
Subject: Is this a bad idea? 2016 320xi 184000kms, Carfax says previous accident for $5k CAD
Found this local vehicle at a used dealer lot, carfax says front right damage for $5800, I’m guessing a front bumper, headlight, and some sensors would total that much so I’m not too worried about it being too serious.
High mileage, but the dealer is asking $12k for the car which is really low from my searches. Price is in Canadian dollars, and it’s 184k kms which is ~114k miles
Anything I should be looking for as a red flag? This is a LCI I’m assuming with an updated N20 so timing chain shouldn’t be an issue correct?
Has a few appearance mods, (spoiler, looks like black csl replica rims, rear spoiler, badge delete) should I be concerned or looking for anything else since it’s not bone stock? I actually like the appearance mods and think it’s been done tastefully.
Not really tight on finances so preventative maintenance isn’t an issue. I’ve heard that high mileage German cars can be intimidating but I’m just looking for something fun to drive for a couple years and I’ve never owned a German car. I budget about $6k a year for myself for a car, so if I get 2 years out of this car with a bit of extra maintenance it’s a zero-sum game.

Subject: choosing the engine for my new e30
i am a 18 year old looking to buy my first car and came across a e30 which is sooo beautiful my question is if i used it stock will it be fast and fun without the need of tuning and all the confusing stuff i am thinking of keeping it stock for like a year or two until i figure it out and can control it and how to fix everything and then maybe get a small turbo and make about 250/300 hp or should i keep it stock forever i heard that the m20b25 is reliable and will not breakdown often or maybe not breakdown at all if i maintain the basic stuff there is also a e30s available with a m30b35 and a m52b28 which one do you recommend to start with and take in account the most reliable and fuel efficiency and thanks for your help in advance!!
