I've never owned a BMW, so I want to ask people with experience. what are the benefits of leasing a BMW vs buying it? is it same concept like Volvo where insurance \ protection are included in the lease?

Subject: Anything I can do with my vanos problem?

I have a 2011 e90 with a N52k engine. This engine has a known Vanos bolt problem and bmw gave an extended 10 year warranty on this car. The warranty ran out July of 2010. My car now has this issue and BMW canada says I’m out of luck as we are past the 10 years. The car only has 93,000km and only summer driven.

Dealership is quoting $4500 Canadian for the repair and independent shops is quoting me $3500. So this is a big expensive job for an old car. Has anyone been successful in “begging” to extend the warranty? I don’t want to junk the car as it has so few miles but it’s almost not worth it

Subject: local bmw dealership is charging 99.99 for a oil change on a 08 335xi. this sounds way too low. i know a few indys charging well over 100. whats the catch?
