I'm eyeing a good deal on a 2018 X3 M40i with 35k miles but it just went out of warranty as of two weeks ago.

Is there a huge premium you pay buying an extended service plan when out of warranty vs a car that is still covered by factory warranty? I'd hate to own a BMW with no type of plan...

On the flip side I also found a very nice 2019 X3 X30i M Sport fully loaded with 18 months left on warranty, and only 24k miles.

Torn between the two choices, the M40i is only $2k more than the x30i

I am not a young hot rodder, but do like a spirited drive now and then. Maybe I'd be happy with a tune on the x30, but all the rage seems to be the M40i
