I’ve been using my E23 as a daily driver for a few months now, and I’ve been a bit nervous about having too much of a negative effect on the car. It’s in great shape mechanically at 97k miles, and I change oil every 3-4k miles, but my commute is barely 10 minutes long if that. I make sure to let it reach a steady idle for a little bit after startup and try not to go too much above 2k rpm on my commute. I take it out for longer drives and an “Italian tune-up” at least once or twice a week, and it only gets down to the high 30s or low 40s at night here, but is two short drives a day where the engine barely warms up going to hurt it significantly in the long run? Ideally this will be a forever car, so maybe I’m just being a little paranoid, but any advice would help.

Would be interesting to hear everyone's stories on how they became a "BMW guy".
For me: My late uncle had a Bronzit E28 535iS that I loved as a young kid. I don't know why (maybe because of the round headlights and kidney "mustache"), but my parents tell me I would always gravitate towards it, and would always hover around it when he and my aunt would come by our house. After that I've always loved BMWs. Years later they're the only cars I've ever owned except for one AMG Mercedes that I loved. I wish I could track down that car to see where it is today.
The catch of this story is that he sold the 535iS for a Lexus LS400 and never looked back. Always said he was too old to go through the mechanical headaches of a BMW again lol.
