Subject: You may remember me from previous posts such as - '15 minutes removing a wheel just to find I needed a 7mm Allen key', and the classic 'Spent 15 minutes hammering my brake disc to get it off - handbrake was on'. Today's masterclass - closing your E93's boot with the battery disconnected
Yes.
Being your own mechanic is a learning curve.
Well today was a classic! I replace rear handbrake shoes, easy money. Starting it up and moving it 13 feet it has trouble starting and tells me battery is dead. Not used car a lot lately, was told in a service back in Feb 2020 it needed replacing.
Spent 3 hours doing the shoes, go to move car, absolutely dead. Tried jumping it from another car, no bueno. Time for a new battery.
Go to remove the old one while waiting for new one to turn up, what the actual fucking fuck do BMW do with their batteries?!?!? Most cars, pop bonnet, undo maybe 1 or 2 holder screws, unscrew terminals.
Bmw - remove trim piece 1, remove trim peice 2, remove trim piece 3, remove holding screw 1 + 2, remove negative terminal, remove 2 positive terminals that run into the processor bollx unit shit thing, finally remove positive terminal 10mm to remove battery.
Well Mr Beginner here only watched half the youtube vid to remove battery, I disconnect the neg, can't get the positive one off for the life of me, I been working on the car for 8 hours now, I'm pissed off, I slam the boot shut.
OOOPSIE.
Thought I was in a world of pain before? Now I had really fucked myself.

Here are today's clowns pics to share with the class.

There have been more than points today where I've wanted to simulataneous cry while smashing down a brick wall.
9 hours after starting, just to replace a set of handbrake shoes, my car is finally in 10/10 condition, the handbrake works and the new battery is in. I've put the wiring back in the glovebox and everything is peachy.
I don't think I'll ever be more happier/relieved than I was when I heard that boot pop.
Imagine not having a keyhole in the boot......
