I'm torn between getting a 512gb micro sd (more compact) vs a USB drive 1TB+ since eventually PS1 and Saturn cores will be available. Does anyone have any recommendations on USB drives to go with that don't require external power to an outlet?

So I was in the process of building a neo geo MVS console but the parts costs were reaching $500 so I thought how irrational it was even though I'm an original console hardware collected... I had to draw the line and canceled my orders and instead just ordered the de10 nano on amazon along with the 128mb sdram module.

I have an acrylic neo geo styled case I plan to build in and until I figure out what to use to wire in USB ports in the case I just will use a cheap micro USB otg hub.

I may add the analog io board later for occasional CRT use but not sure because I've read direct video from HDMI to a VGA has benefits so just not buying an io board until I know for sure whats better to use.

So besides that I grabbed an m30 2.4 controller.

Not sure if I need a heatsink and fan but would like to get them to be safe. If I don't get an io board I will 3d print a fan mount or modify the case. Anyone know what size heatsink and noctua fan to get?

What make/ size SD card is recommended? I plan on most 8,16 bit cores plus PC engine CD, neo geo full library.... Maybe a couple more.... Oh and arcade.

Does the de10 come with a power supply?

Any thing else I need?

Ordered my de10 nano and 128mb sdram today. I'm going to install in a larger console size acrylic case. I'm going to 3d print a front panel and want to place 4 to 6 USB ports on the front of the case.

At first I was just going to buy the add-on USB hub and run short 1ft USB extensions all to the front of the case but really don't have a good way to secure the ports there other than have to spend a day or two designing an elaborate way to capture the ends in the 3d printed panel or use epoxy or hot glue and don't want any glue involved.

Then I thought about just using a regular old powered USB 2.0 hub and frame it in the front panel I'm going to 3d print. This might look OK if I can find a long USB hub where the ports are spaced out. Would this option work just by connecting the hub with a USB to micro USB at the de10 ?

I know they make expansion panels for PC cases with USB ports... Maybe I could use micro usb adapter with one of these expansion panels?

Any other ideas or options?

Can someone help me figure out why my Logitech K380 won't pair with my Mister? I've tried pairing it after pressing F11 in the main menu and by running the Bluetooth script, but I get pairing failed everytime.

I bit the bullet and ordered everything I need to put together my own little MISTer box. Had no idea about fpga gaming until a couple of days ago, but it sounds absolutely glorious.

Can’t wait to get stuck in. Anyone got any recommendations for first games to play? I was thinking I might go do DoDonPachi - big fan of shmups. Either that or some childhood megadrive games with proper audio would be ace.

My components come this week to build my MISTer in a Neo Geo themed acrylic case.

I will be mainly playing 16bit cores, neo geo, and arcade cores on my 70" LCD but I also own a few crt's that I might bring back into use considering I can have all my systems on one device on a CRT without a slew of cables and switches or having to unplug systems all the time.

My issue is I can't find a ton of info on direct video through the de-10 nanos HDMI adapter. I think a lot of people buy the analog io board not knowing you can output analog through the HDMI using a simple HDMI to VGA adapter.

I've read the analog io boards DAC is not as good as the one on the nanos HDMI. So would I get better video quality going with direct video and adapter to the CRT?

Most of my crt's accept component YPbPr except the PC VGA crt's. So if I went the direct video route and converted the HDMI to VGA .... Can the mister send the correct YPbPr signals through this to where I would just need a VGA cable with component YPbPr connectors on the other end or would I need to use an actual powered DB15 rgb to YPbPr high end transcoder like the audio authority 9A60?( which I do have a couple of)

On top of this I'm wondering what the procedure would be going from HDMI on a LCD to analog on CRT?

Unplug HDMI, plug in my adapter/s and connect to the CRT...... But how will I see the menu to change it to push the analog signal if its still set to the LCD video settings? The CRT won't display them and it could possibly hurt the CRT sending out of range signals I think......

So I guess before unplugging from the LCD you could set the analog settings but then you would loose video on the LCD.

Or are there scripts for switching between LCD and CRT that I can write/edit and shortcut commands to boot into different video outputs?

Jeez.... Kinda seems it would be much simpler to just buy the analog io board but I've heard a lot of arguments for direct video so just need to get to the bottom of this so I can move forward with my case build design lol.

Hello, I'm gonna do a video/exposition on FPGA gaming for school and I was wondering if anyone could point me to a video or something explaining how FPGA gaming got started and has progressed? Or just straight up telling me is fine as well.

Also any other interesting resources, facts, or tips about what to talk about would be appreciated. I haven't done much research yet but I was mostly thinking of talking about MiSTer and the different cores.

I’ve got fleeting interests in rpi and arduino, very slowly learning the basics, and recently came across something called Field Programmable Analog Array (fpaa), and was wondering what sort of projects one could use FPAA for vs FPGA? In particular with FPGA gaming, as I’m considering starting an FPGA gaming project.

As I get ready to plunge this fall into FPGA and in particular the AO486 functions... what is the current status of it? Can it boot Win 98 at any degree? I can do W95 but curious about speed etc... I want to play some dos games but also Front Page Sports 98 Baseball and Football Pro, it says 90mhz and 75mhz respectively.
