I almost feel like I should put you out of your misery and just tell you...

Well, I'm trying to think of all the people who used real names. Most of them aren't still around, other than the usual suspects. You can't be Jan Yarnot. :)

Are you Michael Morrow?

You are getting farther afield than before.  Let's help you a little.  I am male, been that way since birth. Been married, not anymore.  Have kids.  Was involved with BBSs from the early days.  First BBS was Omni.  Ran a BBS for my high school based on the original Omni BBS software written by Charles a couple of years before Citadel came to Sacramento.  First Citadel was Dragon's Den.  Spent a few months on Uncensored when they brought it up on the internet a few years ago, using my real name.  I have been known to give conflicting or misleading information during your attempts to determine who I am in this room.

;)

That should help you eliminate a bunch of people.

In which case, why don't you take me up on my offer to put a Pi on one of the other IP addresses, set it up with Citadel, and give you the keys to the kingdom to bring it up as Omni?

We could do OmniBBS.Wallofhate.Com

Or, I'm pretty sure you could just point your Domain name at one of my IP addresses and avoid the wallofhate.com thing - as that seems problematic for some people. :)

Charles was not in high school when he wrote the Original Omni BBS code, but he was friends with my high school teacher, who wanted to run a BBS from the school.  So that is where I installed and ran the system, being my high school resident technical nerd at the time. Much more common place these days, but not back then.

Ran it off TRS-80 computers with four 5.25 floppy drives before they were even double sided drives.

And I thought I already said I didn't want to be a sysop or co-sysop.

Thanks, but no.

I'm so confused. Omni wasn't Charles' BBS?

You're not Vince, then?

Omni BBS was a board ran with that name, but it was originally written in a Basic/Assembler coded program called Omni code running on TRS-80 hardware.  There were 2 systems that ran using that code base. One was Omni BBS before Charles switched to an IBM machine and ran Sac Cit 86/Asgard-86 code base, and the other was the system ran by my high school by my math instructor.

I didn't know this. Wow. See - this part of Sacramento Citadel history has not been well documented.
I do vaguely recall Omni being associated with a BBS originally. So, his BBS was always actually Omni-86 - and it evolved from your BBS?

What school was it at? One of those North Sac high schools, right?

Probably on the Citadel Group on Facebook... as I was checking out, I wasn't really keeping up on that, but I had thrown up a post there.

No usually doesn't mean "no..." in a case like this. It means, "you haven't pestered me enough."

If people took the first no they got and gave up, the human race would come to a halt.

By the way, did you hit the Amiga room and think the BBS was broken because it took so long to bring that page up?

I should probably delete the room and start over. Lesson learned about a room full of new, big images.

Well, the original Omni was not a Citadel based BBS at all.  Charles ran it for years before he got involved with the Citadel stuff.  I think his brother Gary had something to do with getting him into Citadel.  Charles finally switched over to IBM hardware and started running Citadel code when his brother was the main Sacramento Citadel developer.  But he did some amazing things with his TRS-80 hardware and assembler code.  The TRS-80 was limited to 4 floppy drives.  Charles and a friend of his designed an built a board that was controlled thru assembler code that allowed him to attach 8 floppy drives, which is what the Original Omni BBS ran on.

Define North Sac?  Del Paso, Rio Linda, North Highlands, Antelope, Roseville?  It was one of them northern areas, but not "Sacramento" directly.

I did go thru the Amiga room, but I had  been warned with your message in the lobby, so I gave it time to load.  Wish I had a room to set up my antique computer collection like you have.

I was there when you first started visiting Citadel boards, and then set up your own system.  I know of your "troubled" youth, as well as your transformation into the tech world, and read many of your articles over the years.

Was a little surprised of the family man you became after seeing you in your teen years...
