I want to know why people were collapsing on the street in China. Is it so bad that you'll try to drag yourself to your job even when you can't breath anymore? Is it just that not being able to breath is so usual - you don't know when it is a BAD case of not being able to breath?

Why were there so many zombie apocalypse videos coming out of China right before the storm hit?

A regular cold can kill you. The super cold can REALLY kill you. I think the Left capitalized it to leverage fear against Trump - and I think the Right in turn downplayed it. The right move would have been to go,

"It is serious - very serious - and we're doing the best we can - but the Democrats aren't doing any favors to anyone but themselves by politicizing it. They wouldn't be doing any better."

There weren't enough people saying things like that.

My wife is agoraphobic, so the pandemic has been almost a non-event for me. The first three weeks we were being shown Chinese streets full of corpses and Italy losing thousands per week. After that it was obviously just a super cold.

I just wish I could take my wife out to a restaurant again. She gets panic attacks wearing a a mask.

I am neither an Anti-Masker or an Anti-Vaxxer...

But this report is troubling and the numbers seem credible:

Currently, our estimates show that we have to accept four fatal and 16 serious side effects per 100,000 vaccinations in order to save the lives of 2–11 individuals per 100,000 vaccinations, placing risks and benefits on the same order of magnitude.

I'll stop being anti-vax when people are allowed to sue for vaccine injuries.  https://vaers.hhs.gov/ is a fucking travesty.

I'll get a covid vaccine if they can show me that it's actually beneficial for ME.

I believe the general idea that getting VERY high vaccination is necessary to prevent spread *and* potential mutation in unvaccinated populations that could then present a serious threat to vaccinated ones.

That makes sense. The unvaccinated become the breeding ground from which a vaccine resistant mutant variation arises.

I wish they could better support this claim, without having it actually happen.

I had to be vaxed because I travel lots on planes and the company I founded all the sudden have lots of left wing idealists. Whatever, I got stuck twice. I figured the vax cant be worse than bad stuff I did without a condom in bangkok, barcelona and prague. In our family my mother was the only one that held out, no vax. She didnt want two bit half proven science. She is now dealing with a covid + diagnosis snce yesterday and coughing worse that a marlboro spokeswoman. Hope she makes it.

I got the booster yesterday.

Still in the window of uncertainty.

But, oddly enough - I used many of the same examples you just did for my justification. I've put lots of chemical cocktails inside my body recreationally in my lifetime - on PURPOSE, exactly FOR the toxic side effects - and I've also put myself in a lot of dangerous things, fast cars and fast women, just for the thrill of it.

I wish there were an upside of the Covid Vaccination that made me want to take the risk other than "if it works, you probably won't die of Covid..."

But I'm going to Houston for an F1 race in October, and to Italy in November... so... I kinda gotta do it.

And, statistically, I don't think it is the MOST risky thing I've done - but statistics don't matter on the one you break the odds on - regardless of it is winning the lottery, going down in a commercial airliner, getting eaten by a shark, or getting struck by lightning. I always look at it as - "Well, if I go any of those ways... statistically I'm *special* and pretty unique..." at least I didn't go out in a highway accident or from heart failure like most average people. :)

my_brother = vax;

whatever i typed for  the last 20 vanished due to a combination key press. its gone. it was far reaching and heart felt and I am now too tired but to MacArthur Park that all over again. it was about feeding real code to a vax/vms server (may as well been just a furnace) and why laundromats should pick up where churches left off.

Something times out on the security check if you sit too long idle in Citadel. I had the same thing happen to me on a very long, very heartfelt message too. I understand the feeling. I apologize that the BBS did this to you.

Shorter messages... post in parts... that is how I'll go forward. It isn't like there is so much traffic here you'll get interrupted.

Last night or very early this morning, I lost a long message in a similar way. I'm considering composing my posts using notepad in another window (even Android's browser has windows - they're just called tabs), and then cutting and pasting it back here. I can do it on this Fire tablet or either of my Windows machines. I don't mind adding a step or three. I've been doing this since the seventies, and I remember when all of this was more complicated!

Didn't Citadel in Sacramento have a save-buffer like a word processor that would basically dump your post to disk so it could be recovered if you lost carrier or otherwise had something go FUBAR?

It is amazing that 35 years later - we've lost that feature - mostly because it wasn't as likely for so long - but we've finally found a way to break it again. Security timeouts on TLS/SSL web connections, evidently.

Hurricanes from butterfly wings.

Everyone else who got Covid and died... died of COVID.

Collin Powell gets Covid and dies - while vaccinated - and he dies of COMPLICATIONS *related* to Covid.

See how that works?

Yeah. The vaccine didn't do it, either, right. The vaccine didn't do its job, though, clearly.
