Ahoy Mateys! Let's say, that hypothetically, someone pirated some software on a MacBook and needs to take it in for a battery replacement. How does one make sure the land lubbers over at the Apple Store don't plunder ye treasures and delete the software?

Subject: Best websites for torrenting movies and TV shows?
I previously used Yify/yts.mx, but recently it's started giving me popup windows every time I click on their website, some of which start downloading files onto my computer without permission. Obviously this is unacceptable, so I need alternatives.
Which websites are safe and offer a wide selection of movies and TV shows to torrent?
Subject: Infringement Notice question
I'm far from a computer novice, but as equally far from being a security analyst, so I have a serious question about receiving infringement notices.
A decade back, I freely admit I was illicitly downloading daily. Did so without any kind of VPN. In six or seven years, I received one copyright infringement notice. I can't recall my provider back then. Comcast, I think.
These days, I don't download much at all. Two or three things in the past couple years. I use NordVPN, mostly to get around geographical barriers for YT and crap like that. I'm not moralizing in any judgment against piracy, I just haven't come across much I wanted.
Thing is, in the past six months, I received five infringement notices. AT&T is my current provider (and fuck them with a Brillo pad). Most notices have been from Paramount. The latest says the infringement came from an IP address that isn't mine and isn't any of the VPN addresses used.
My question is: if I am honestly not the perpetrator, how the fuck am I pinged for infringements at a rate of about once a month?
Could it be modem piggybacking? I've changed password and blocked wi-fi entirely (the two computers in the house connect via ethernet cable).
Hack? Virus? Any legitimate suggestions or theories?
Thanks for any response.
