so I got black ops 3 from the fitgirl website. install seemed to go alright, and all the files are there, but when I run the exe file the game never shows up, always loading. I can find black ops 3 running in task manager though. how do I fix this?

After thetrove.is went down (ttrpg hosting site) there was a discord server for folks who were trying to rebuild the archive, and help each other finding things. I was active on it for a while, helped some folk out with somethings, but I've been busy for the last few months and barely on discord.

When I looked today it was no longer visible as a server and I wonder if it's resurfaced somewhere else? Or anyone got any suggestions of places to share ttrpg (D&D, etc) related material?

So I purchased Rocket League long before it went free to play. Then suddenly the money I spent is not required. Okay, sure. It was a long time ago, so I put it behind me.

Then it gets removed from the Steam Store. That's okay, because I can still play a game that is de-listed from Steam as long as I have the account, provided the game servers are still up. That's great news, because Rocket League is still available everywhere! Right?

Wrong. You cannot play this game unless it is on the account you bought it from.

But surely, I should be allowed to borrow my game from myself, right? After all, it's on the SAME HARD DRIVE with the SAME USER.

No.

Steam does not allow you to borrow de-listed games from alt accounts, even if you're on the same computer you used to buy the game. Also, Steam does not allow a user to log into two accounts simultaneously, so it's not like I can just right-click and select "play game as main account" or anything.

I am literally not allowed to play/borrow/launch my own game from my own hard drive. Worst of all, I actually paid full price for Rocket League before it went free to play, so I ultimately paid for a game that I cannot access on Steam despite the fact it's still installed.

But hey "competition is good for the industry" and all that noise (product exclusivity). Shout-out to r/Piracy, which has plenty of legitimate points on how ownership of your own products/devices and access to what you purchased legitimately is just not what it used to be.

A big slap in the face considering the game is still online to this day and had little reason to switch platforms all of a sudden and uproot customers like me.

To be clear I'm not shitting on Rocket League, the development team or necessarily Steam. I just think the whole "you're buying/paying for ACCESS to what you wanted" is a ridiculous undermining of ownership and should be criminalized under law in countries where the expectation is you're buying the item directly.

TLDR: I bought a game legitimately and it was later removed from the store. Now I'm forced to choose either play it from another platform or logout for 1 game.

What other shitty experiences and inconveniences have you suffered by being a legitimate consumer? I'd love to hear it.

I downloaded CCleaner from 1337x, when I scanned the exe file using VirusTotal, it detected AdWare.ConvertAd.akkk which is an adware program, that displays pop-up ads and advertisements on web pages that you visit.

CracksHash is big on 1337x right now and it's not the first time they've been caught sharing shady stuff, beaware.

Anyone successfully paying india prime price ? It comes out to around 20usd a year. I changed my ip to india using nord vpn and went on amazon.in from there subscribed to prime but i can only pay using indian means of pay, and my canadian credit cards dont work for it. You can use indian gift cards to pay but buying them i get into the same issue i need indian means of payment. Anyone ever got through ?

I currently use qBittorrent, and I love it. But, I noticed it's not as aggressive when seeding and sometimes even downloading torrents. Are there any torrent clients that are more aggressive that I can use? (They must be able to bind a network interface).
