Subject: Irony of Reddit and Free Speech... You've gained a new Libertarian today.
I subscribe to r/askaconservative and a question was posted asking of we're witnessing the death of America right now. The question specifically mentions the censorship of free speech, and how it only looks like it may get worse. I posted a response saying I've become very disillusioned by politics, from both sides, despite being pretty conservative in general, and that I'll probably be voting Libertarian for now on.
I received a message a few minutes later that I was permanently banned from the sub, and no explanation was given. I replied to it asking the mods what the reason was, as I was just trying to give a middle of the road answer. I then received a message that I have been muted from contacting the mods...
I guess that kind of answers the question, huh?

Subject: The GOP can sit down and shut up the next 2 years while they examine what they have become and let the democrats govern like the people elected them to do.
I better not hear one fucking word from the GOP about anything dealing with morality, legality, the debt, or anything else. They kept egging on these extremist morons, until there they exploded. Yesterday only happend because they backed Trump instead of standing up to him and telling him its over concede.
They had the chance to remove him in February but they didn't because of politics. They were only focused on election and judges.
Lets be clear even if they vote to convict him if the democrats impeach him again ITS TO LATE! Your red line is fucking insurrection? GTFO
They need to focus on reforming their own party and not on bad faith obstruction!

Subject: Lindsay Graham's speech from last night really should be the last thing that ever needs to be said about Trump, whether you support him or not.
Subject: Ashli Babbit getting shot was a tragedy, but is not a police violence issue
She was a total nutter, that was led to lay down her life for Donald Trump, at the behest of internet trolls that fed her fragile mind conspiracy bullshit for the lulz.
But this is not even a police escalation issue. If you wonder why the ACAB crowd isn't rushing to her defense, lets understand that one of these things is not like the other.
We see justified anger when police shoot someone asleep in their own home.
When police choke out someone selling cigarettes on the street.
When police give impossinle instructions to someone who is already on the ground and opwn fire when they follow them.
When they kneel on the neck of a subdued suspect on the ground for 8 minutes until they are dead.
When they shoot someone reaching for their cellphone.
What we don't see in any of these occassions is the victims going to where the police are, trapping them in an inclosed space, breaking the windows and trying to climb in toward the police.
I'm truly sorry that anyone was unhinged enough to lay down their life for Donald Trump. And I believe the police should be retrained and demilitarized. And for all I know the cop that shot her is a bastard. But, no, this is not a case in which someone was obviously not a threat.

I voted for Donald, I wasn’t necessarily proud of it, but I saw him as the lesser of two evils. This election I knew it was him or Biden, so I chose Trump (mainly for gun rights, which while Trump has infringed upon them, he was still better than Biden).
When he first lost I knew it was over but was interested to see if maybe he knew something we didn’t about fraud and gave him the benefit of the doubt. He let me down. The mail in ballots, while I believe all votes should be in person, still happened and we have to accept that. Then to see him throw Mike Pence under the bus was my breaking point. Mike is a good man.
I have always been a Libertarian, I love our ideology of freedom for the individual. The Gadsden Flag is a symbol for what I believe in. Do as you want, but do not infringe upon my rights. Gay married couples should be able to defend their weed farms with fully automatic weapons.
I will be voting gold from now on and I am encouraging everybody I know to do the same. Our message needs to be heard. Democrats are now in full control and it’s going to be a bad 4 years, but we can rally together and improve our hold in government for future elections to come. I expect us to lose the next few battles, but if we keep it up we will eventually be acknowledged as a competitor to the other two parties.
We have something they don’t, we believe in true liberty and freedom which is what America SHOULD be. Sorry for taking so long to come around.
God bless, and let’s Make America Gold.

Subject: Hot take: Trump supporters are not attacking government to defend Trump or authoritarianism, they're doing it because THEY BELIEVE the government has rigged the election.
I see A LOT of misrepresentation in this sub about the goal of the actual "protestors". Saying that they're ignorant and ironic for carrying the Gadsen flag while trying to reinstall an authoritarian.
Now, are they fucking magnanimously stupid for believing a pathological liar who said the election THAT HE WON was fraudulent, that this election was fraudulent before it even began, and that he claimed to have won just a few hours after it began? Abso-fucking-lutely. No argument there.
But they do. And because they do, they are not fighting for an authoritarian, they believe they are fighting for the very thing they are actually destroying: democracy.
Misrepresenting the opposition builds a brick wall. A logical impasse. If you're arguing different things, there's no way you're going to come to an understanding. If that is your goal, and not to just be outraged, this is something you need to get over.
Further, I find it disturbing that a libertarian sub would be so disgusted at the idea of a revolution in general. Something we actually desperately need.
E: I am not condoning, excusing, supporting, or justifying this coup. I'm advocating for rational discussions.

An example of failed leadership is on display in the House of Representatives. After what happened yesterday at the Capitol. Its very clear, that the minority leader who leads the Republican Caucus has in effect sanctioned the attempted coup made by Trump supporters yesterday as well as the attack made against the legislative body of the United States of America.
By voting in favor of the challenge to certify the results of all contested states. He in effect tells them that their anger is justified and that he believes their attacks warranted. Kevin McCarthy says to the rest of America, that he cares more about power and status then he does about the oath he took to defend the constitution. He could have taken the reigns and told his caucus to zip it and stop legitimatizing these lies and honor their oaths to the constitution. Its funny...I'm fairly certain that several...
Dan Crenshaw ( at least I think) Ron Johnson Mitch McConnell Lindsay Graham
And others, totally shocked me. But of all people..Kevin McCarthy was the person I least expected to do this. After everything he went through personally yesterday...he sanctioned the actions of the insurrectionists. He essentially thinks it was ok to attack the capital and endanger the lives of his colleagues...wow. I'm beside myself...fuck Kevin McCarthy. But a little weasel who can't be trusted with leadership in the House of Representatives anymore. He should be removed and arrested for Sedition.

Subject: It was VP Pence and Senate Majority Leaders who approved the National Guard in the capital's time of crisis. Not Trump.
History lesson. Revolutions and civil wars rarely lead to more freedom. Usually they lead to less. If people really want freedom the best way they can obtain it is for large numbers of people to peacefully refuse to comply with the system. No revolution or civil war is necessary. Anything else is a waste of time and energy. Arguing over which puppet politician you want is useless. They are all crooked. It's called controlled opposition. The only thing that makes a difference is large numbers of people refusing to comply.

I think their response to the statist coup attempt eliminates any credibility of the claim "gnb is a sub for REAL libertarians"

Subject: Trump pressured Pence to engineer a coup, then put the VP in danger, source says
There's a difference between storming gov't buildings because the whole system is corrupt (based) and storming buildings because the most corrupt one at the very top wants help consolidating power (retarded).

Today was the last straw. Been losing respect since the start of pandemic, and Trump refusing to go back on his claims of fraud after what those claims have caused today is it. So now I can't stand the Democrats or Republicans, so idk man, maybe I'll give you libertarians a chance.
