Subject: One of my favorite arcade games ever got a beta release! Many thanks Jotego! (Have fun beating my puny score :))
I'm trying to load Neo Geo rom files on my MiSTer but having trouble. I'm not entirely sure how to ask this question because I obviously don't want to provide links to the files I'm using, but I'm going to try to reference them because I suspect the problem is with these files somewhere.
I got a collection of files that ends in All.video.game.consoles.BIOS.files.collection.Neo.Geo and it had a 'Neo Geo' folder with 4 zips. I unzipped the latest (neogeo (4).zip) and moved the 000-lo.lo, sfix.sfix, sp-s1.sp1, neo-epo.sp1 files from there to my games/NeoGeo folder on my MiSTer via FTP. I also grabbed uni-bios.rom from the latest version on the Universe Bios web site.
The roms I know need to be "Darksoft" though I admit I'm not super familiar with the Neo Geo so maybe I got the wrong ROMs? The set I got is specifically called 'neo-geo-aes-romset' and I believe mentioned Darksoft somewhere in the listing.
I've tried different combinations of using MVS vs AES, Original vs Universe Bios in the menu, but no matter what when I load a ROM, it either goes black, or goes blue, or loads garbled green mess. I tried loading a ROM as a zip file, and I tried unzipping it and loading the whole directory. In both cases, the xml file seems to notice and print the alternate name on the menu screen.
I just don't know enough about all this Neo Geo BIOS stuff to properly troubleshoot this, and I don't even get an error that I can google or anything. Does the MiSTer save a log file or something that might help debug what's going on here?

Subject: MiSTer on the way - HDMI > S-Video or RCA/Composite?
Howdy,
I have a DE10-Nano on the way and recently picked up a CRT to play some games on. I have heard conflicting accounts of what is best and what is necessary to convert the signal to an analog one. The TV has S-Video, Coaxial, and RCA/Composite inputs.
What is the best way to get the video signal from the DE10-Nano to this television set with low latency?
I see HDMI > Composite devices out there, but it seems like they're scaling and whatnot which I would assume adds latency and potentially other video and/or audio artifacting.
I have heard some people say stuff like oh yeah you don't need the analog board you can just go HDMI > VGA with the right cable, flip an option in a config file, and you're good to go. I've also heard that doesn't work with most or all adapters any more. Plus if I can get this working I still need to worry about VGA > S-Video or VGA > Composite.
Some have said you need the analog board, but that removes the ability for me to add extra RAM, which I would absolutely like to do at some point for it sounds like PSX & Saturn can use it - but if I can't use anything into this TV without an Analog board then obviously I'll make the extra RAM sacrifice.
So what's really going on here? Can anyone help me figure out what is the actual best solution here? Are there sources/resources I'm just missing?

Subject: Anyone else sell all their original hardware once they got a MiSTer?
I've managed to collect a few systems over the years.
I own 2 Sega Genesis system, 2 SNES systems, 1 NES system, PS2 Fat Version (With PS1 backward compatibility) and even a old DOS Pentium II computer that I am contemplating selling.
I also have a Mega SG by Analogue and i honestly haven't really felt the need to use it since I got MiSTer.
Furthermore I also have the FXPAK Pro, Mega Everdrive X7, NES Everdrive N8, and a GBA Everdrive as well for the retro systems. (Previously had a GBA but sold it)
And to play all my old systems I have a old Toshiba CRT and a crappy IBM CRT monitor too.
On the more modern side for monitoring options i have a portable Gaming high refresh monitor and a 4K TV.
Anyhow I have been thinking maybe it's a good idea to sell these because I just feel like I have way too much and I don't want to be one of those collector types.
For those of you in my shoes, what did you do?

I put the latest core on the sdcard and now when I load a virtual disc it boots and goes straight to the memory card/CD player screen. Loading the older (a few weeks old) core, games open as normal. Am I missing something here?

I'm able to successfully change it to united states and console but it always shows as Europe region before a game starts. I changed it and then rebooted the Mister to initiate a save.
Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thanks

Subject: WD Elements 2TB with Mister Power Supply Question
Sorry if this is elementary but I'm tearing my hair out.
I have a MisterAddons.com preconfigured bundle. I have the power supply it came with and the DC Jumper to power the built in USB hub.
I've seen posts about needing a 2.5 A power supply to power the external hard drive (it is USB powered I cant plug it into the wall)
I am very confused.
Someone mentioned using a Raspberry Pi Micro USB power supply with a JENOR DC 5.5x2.1mm Male Plug to Micro USB Female Connector Adapter Charge Converter. In this scenario would this plug into the Mister and now the USB hub should have additional power to support the USB drive?
Can someone tell me exactly how I power the Hard Drive? ie Plug this into the wall, plug the hard drive into this, etc.
I guess im confused if the 2.5A power supply will power just the Hard drive or the mister as well?
Last question -> how would this https://misteraddons.com/collections/parts/products/in-line-power-switch connect and is this an option?

Subject: Should I worry about the MiSTer (i.e. DE-10 Nano) being discontinued like how Analog discontinued the NT mini or am I being paranoid?
I want to pre-order one so at least I have the opportunity to make a kit down the road but man it's not cheap for the FPGA chip/board alone ($210) and it got me thinking if I don't get one now it may not be easy to get one later or ever if Terasic (Intel?) stop production for whatever reason.
Also will there be like a better FPGA down the road (i.e. in the next 1-3 years) that will do like more powerful systems than PS1 & Saturn or this is the best we are gonna get for a long time?
Im asking cause if I can wait then I can use that money to buy more retro consoles and maybe a $150 windows mini office PC for my living room TV for retro emulation & easy to run PC games.
Thanks.

Subject: Q*bert core's VFlip is "flipping" the wrong axis. Can someone else validate this?
I currently run my MISTER on a 32gb micro sd card. I have a 256gb micro sd card I'd like to upgrade to. Is there a way/program to clone the 32gb sd card to maintain all functionality, or do I need to go through the whole setup process again and then copy over my roms etc?

Is the little DC Jumper that's used to connect power between the DE10 and Digital I/O board a standard part or is it only available from certain MiSTer specific places? If standard, what's it called?
