You can do it on a Windows PC easily too. I just discovered how. Not sure if it is a feature that was recently added, if it is OS or browser that enables it, but - it is certainly a feature that isn't... 💩

I've been caught up with other things and neglecting my blog, but I have a few retro-articles I need to write up.
Just too busy as summer rolls in, and the Citadel has been consuming almost all of my spare cycles - getting it running on Proxmox.
I don't *really* have links back to social media on my blog - but I don't really have links back to my Citadel either. We do need to figure out, as a community, a collective, effective way to attract an audience without bringing in the toxic SJW types that destroy communities. This is the great benefit of being under the radar of the mainstream - those types really don't show up in mobs looking to disrupt community and silence dissent.
Tue May 04 2021 00:17:35 MST from ASCII ExpressI finally took the plunge and removed all links to social media from my blog. It felt great. Now thanks to a little Jekyll hacking it only links to the BBS, and promotes it on individual posts.
Left Leaning Technology Stalwart Fortune 500 Leadership:
"This industry is too dominated by straight white males who expect high salaries and quality working environments. Let's replace them all with cheap, female Indian IT workers who think terrible conditions are incredible and will work for peanuts. We get to virtue signal that we're leaders in hiring women *and* minorities, the shareholders are happy with reduced payroll costs... it is winning the whole way down!"
2020
"Let's alienate all of the underemployed IT professionals who we've driven out of the industry from speaking their mind on the social media technology giants that we all control! We've taken their careers - but now we need to take their voices!"
2021 - the rise of disenfranchised straight white male underemployed white guys with IT backgrounds raising their own Social Media networks completely outside the scope of the mainstream corporate cogs of the Internet.
"Wait... we didn't see THAT coming!"
"Wait... we didn't see THAT coming!"
Man, we have gotten on the same wavelength!
They drove out the people who ran boards in the 80s and 90s.
I don't know how to keep away the destroyers, but I do know that we need to prepare.
The guys on Uncensored - who are generally a very high functioning group of thinkers - especially on technology issues - think there is going to be a strong push to literally turn things like this into pirate radio so they can justify shutting them down.
Things like Cookie acts and other pushes to force little operators out because they don't have the ability or resources to manage all the rules - making it so that you need a legal team in order to put anything YOU own on the public internet...
It'll probably come to pass. I was running a BBS when I was 17 - when Mark Zuckerburg was *3*... I've been making online communities and publishing them for the public to access for nearly 30 years.
This is Zuck when The Sanitarium first went online:

Will we retreat with our pirate bulletin boards to the dark web?
Hey, at least Citadel's text mode will play well there....
I think it is pretty likely - we end up on i2p or some other anonymous network riding "inside" the Internet and TCP/IP with a distributed, basically untraceable model.
i2p seems like a solid choice - but it is still pretty unreliable, easy to accidentally reveal yourself - and difficult to configure.
Wed May 12 2021 19:47:12 MST from ASCII ExpressSadly it may come to something like this. Look how much harder they've made it to run a legit mail server.

Pirate radio seems like a good model. I think when I start a BBS that I don't want a WWW version. Telnet only for me. :D Gotta keep those normies out.
Telnet is terribly insecure. Citadel does some things to make it more secure (you can basically only connect *into* Citadel)... but everything goes across the network in cleartext and it is remarkably easy to sniff.
SSH is the way to go if you're worried about security and trying to minimize attack surfaces.

So, gang related black-on-black crime claiming innocent black lives has been exported to England, now.

But yeah, maybe we should focus on systematic white racism and police brutality in more heavily policing black communities. That'll probably fix this problem.

Awesome response. This is seriously transparent - and does damage the Democratic process. I'm not a big fan of compelling private industry to do things through regulation - but - I think this is one of those cases where the corporations have abused their position so frequently, grievously, and contemptuously to the public interest that their industry deserves the discomfort of having Government step in and tell them they must behave in certain ways.
It generally seems to get the attention of the business community when this happens to an industry. Facebook and Twitter need to serve as an example of what happens to an industry that gets too powerful and doesn't respect their scope.
Fri Jun 04 2021 21:20:36 MST from ASCII ExpressFacebook banned Trump for two years. Trump responded, "Next time I'm in the White House there will be no more dinners, at his request, with Mark Zuckerberg and his wife. It will be all business!"
