Subject: Looking for documentation/help getting an A1200 into a saleable condition
Hi everyone, recently joined as discovered my old A1200 sitting in the garage and decided to see if it was still working. Amazingly it is!
It's an A1200 with the 68050 50MHz, 6MB RAM card, and a 250MB HDD.
Trouble is, like an idiot when I was at Uni (waaay back in 1998) I installed some kind of unix-a-like multi-user file system on it, let my mates have accounts. Naturally in the intervening 23 years I've totally forgotten how to administer this filesystem or any of the passwords to access it.
I'd like to prepare this A1200 for resale as I no longer want it, and I think it'd be best if I blitzed the entire machine back to a fresh workbench install on the HDD, which is currently partitioned into 3 partitions: OS, Games and University Work.
I used to be good at this stuff, but have long lost all memory of how to work an Amiga, so I'd really appreciate if anyone might guide me or point to a help resource so I can achieve the following:
- Wipe the HDD completely clean.
- Reinstall Workbench (I have 3.0 disks, possibly 3.1) on the HDD.
- ... that's pretty much it, I would then look to sell the machine as-is, with a stack of games, utility, magazine and blank diskettes - although the sale is a thread yet-to-be-written.
Can anyone offer me advice or a reference guide please on how to achieve the HDD wipe and Workbench reinstall?
Many many thanks!
Clumsy.... :)

Subject: I only just discovered this video. Samia Halaby is a well-known artist that bought her Amiga 1000 in about 1987 and learned to program it in AmigaBASIC and the C! She STILL uses the A1000!!! Not all Amiga fans are gamers. Some of us are happy with the original Amigas and Workbench 1.3.

Subject: Amiga Format magazines removed from Archive.org
I uploaded some scans of Amiga Format magazine a few years ago to The Internet Archive. But receivent I received an email from Archive.org saying they have received a copyright complaint from The Publishers Association about the materials uploaded by my user account to archive.org, and taken down the Amiga Format magazines I had uploaded.
When I went to look on Archive.org I couldn't spot any Amiga Format magazines still uploaded there only disk ISO. Previously it was nearly a full collect of them on there. And other Amiga mags like CU Amiga are still available to download.
Does this mean Future Publishing have been going after places sharing copies of old magazines like AF? I know technically they are still under copyright but Future aren't going to make much money off 30 year old magazines any more. Even if they made them available as official digital downloads its still quite a small audience who would purchase.
