Subject: HELP! My Commodore Amiga 3000 has issues that need tissues.
So first off obviously I have an Amiga 3000 the main floppy drive works but the sensor that tells it there's a floppy in there on the front left doesn't work very well and you have to push really hard on the sensor for it to do anything. Any ideas on repairs or cheap replacement? I'm not against a bypass to a switch of some sort, but keeping it as original as possible is a plus. The second issue is I don't have a keyboard for the dang thing. I have an Amiga 1000 keyboard with the telephone style plug and a Windows turbo-plus keyboard that doesn't work with it but has the right plug, any good ideas there? Cut and splice adapter maybe or buy an adapter that I don't know about? The computer boots well and functions great I have a mouse that works with it so I can click on things. If there's anything cool I can do with it that's a plus as well I kinda just want to play chessmaster 2100. ALSO! I've been booting floppies via the secondary floppy drive attachment.
Thanks for any help and advice.

Hi
I have been working on an A500 project for ages and have recently added in a pistorm, and it has taken me a couple of months to finaly have the time to put into getting it running.
I now have the A500 so it will boot in to workbench, however the keyboard is now behaving strangly. The OS only shps the alt and shift key as working with the test utility, however the F10 key does work when using WHD load to quit games, however none of the other keys appear to work at the minute (this also impacts games booted from the GoTek.
This was not an issue pre-pistorm so I am wondering what the issue could be, I don't have any spares to hand so its tricky to rule things out.

Subject: Commodore King. A1200's retouches and mods. Os softmods and kernel recompiles. Commodore Journey has been awesome this year. Got my hands on soooo much hardware. Tricked out Amiga 1200's in 2021!
![]() | Commodore King. Tricked out many Amiga 1200's this year. My commodore adventure has been a fun one in deed and will continue to be. I have modded out and worked on over 8 A1200's this summer, over 3 CBM Pets, A few a500's a600's and c64's Done many retro restores and mods. Had my hands on over 10 accelerator cards in 2 months with a friend as a joint hobbiest venture. its been profitable. We've managed to pinch many pieces of our profit for ourselfs and got lots of cool hardware free out of our deals. I have modifed the Amiga kernel LOTS and recompiled it. done a few libraries wilst keeping the original look and aca chipset. This thing is hopped up now. I got A1200 with 68030 50mhz cpu and 68882fpu running 32 mb 60ns ram with mmu virtual ram processor on a blizzard 1230mkIV accelerator. It is in a a1200.net grey case with a 32 gb ssd on a 44pin fast ide to ssd adapter. I am running out hd to a dell 15khz modified 19" wide lcd monitor native rgb to vga unbuffered sharp as glass smooth as silk display and framerates. I am running the tom+ to a high end usb lazer lenovo usb mouse. Its emulating dos at 30fps, mac system 7.5 at 30+fps, sega genesis and master system, nintendo, and atari 2600 at a bareable 16-25 fps. the sega is full fps. Plays mp3's modified and rewrote a tooltype to link to gmplay and have the software gus midi patch instrument sets emulated softsynth on the paula chip. and recently got the miamidx tcpip stack running with ibrowse 2.4 on a netgear401 16bit cardbus pcmcia wireless card to my network and internet on wpa2 tkip encryption. "the other side" bbs is currentlyt being ported to Amiga and i plan to have it online by xmas. So if anyone needs help with the software or is starting out or needs to modify their startup/user-sequence softkick newer rom images whatevs I know it blindfolded. I have a photographic memory and remember everything right down to vic20 assembly coding from over 40 years ago. I never forget a thing. visual mind. Hit me up if you need info or help. I enjoy this.. ;) [link] [comments] |
So earlier this year I was looking for an A1200 because I used to own two (My post history here contains me complaining about the prices). And by sheer coincidence a friend who was having a clear out found an A600 in a cupboard gathering dust (I believe I also posted a photo of that haul). He'd owned it from new, too. It was like several christmasses rolled into one. I gave it a good clean, fired it up and managed to play some North and South on it.
This was late March/early April, and I'm at university with assignments to do so I promise to be good and save playing with it until summer. In the mean time I decide to send it off to be recapped. Got a quote from a reputable UK recapper and posted the mobo to them. They stated that they have a backlog of a month or so so I promptly forgot about it and got to essay writing. Well, not entirely, I also purchased a 1MB RAM upgrade with clock and a CF adapter, got a bootable disk setup for it via WinUAE. All ready to go.
End of term rolls around and now it's June. I fire off an email saying, "hey, how's my amiga doing"? .... Silence
Two weeks later they get back to me, no A600 mobo in their collection of stuff that they're working on. Fortunately I was sensible and posted it First Class Signed For. So all I needed to do was find the receipt and prove they had in fact received it (because I do a lot of ebaying I'm 70% certain I checked that it had arrived).... Can I find the receipt? No, because after handing in all my Uni work I sorted out my office and threw away a load of bits of paper that I'd accumulated over the course of the school-year.
So I find the exact bank transaction in my statement and date and time and go to the Post Office, see if they can bung the info into their computer. No they can't. They suggest I apply for compensation, so I do that, including all the details, and they say without proof of posting there's nothing I can do. An they don't seem willing to check their database against the postcode/date-time/price/type etc. - only the reference number will do. They sent me some stamps to cover the original postage cost though.
So now I have a bunch of games, disks, joysticks and an empty A600 case. At least I got it for free.
Moral of the story: Never ever ever throw away your Post Office receipts ever.
TLDR: Got a free A600, sent the mobo off for recapping, it disappeared into the void

Hey. The second port on my Amiga works fine but not the first one.
It seems that there is no movement nor mouse clicks (cannot enter boot menu), joystick connected to port 1 also doesnt work. I have measured voltage on both ports and both have around 4.7V.
What else can it be?
