Subject: Worth Rescuing? Hope the pictures come out. Hundreds of original disks and hundreds more backups (~400 disks in total). Cleared out of loft (stored for 12 years in the South of England). Due to fly back to the US tomorrow. No idea if the disks still work but thought I would ask for thoughts? :)
I'm gathering the pieces for an A500. I have some parts already but I'm missing others. I was hoping I could get everyone's input on what combination of parts would be ideal.
Here's what I have:
- Case
- Revision 5 motherboard missing main chips
- 2mb agnes
- super denise
- gary
- paula
- two CIAs
- external keyboard adapter
Here's what I'm missing:
- 68000
- trap door memory expansion
- floppy drive
- keyboard
Here's what I was thinking of getting:
- pistorm. Although I'll probably get a 68k to verify the board works first, and to use on another future build.
- the raspberry pi adapter for the denise to get hdmi out
- some kind of memory upgrade like a megachip and/or trapdoor memory expansion
- gotek
My main concern is that I think something like the pistorm can still provide 2mb of chip ram even without the proper agnes. But if that's the case, then maybe I need a 1mb agnes. And maybe I can skip the trapdoor expanion altogether.
I know there was also talk of allowing the pistorm to provide hdmi out obviating the need for another raspberry pi in the denise socket. Does this work yet or is it still a future enhancement?
I have a new bare 500+ motherboard I plan to solder together later. So any extra parts can go toward that project also.

Subject: Any tutorial that explain how to best use the indivision AGA and the various Amiga monitor settings?
Just got a MK2 Indivision AGA; at a decent price, although I am not sure how to best use it.
I am using an old LCD monitor, I get the picture fine in default mode, and the indivision show 640x480 when the amiga boot or play games. If I load WB it goes into 1024x768; using my PAL monitor setup in WB.
Is there a tutorial that explain how to best use the indivision? I see that in the storage folder there are plenty of "monitor configs" like dblPAL, Euro72 and similar, but I have no clue what those do, and if they are useful with the indivision at all.
Currently everything works fine but my WB screen is a bit too small, so it seems that it is using the default amiga output but on a 1024x768 resolution; which makes things more crisp and nice but still I would like to get more real estate on my desktop. For games it seems to be fine as is, at 640x480
After all my monitor is pretty old (I think it is a 720P monitor, it is 10 years old at this point), so I am not looking for a 1080p resolution.

![]() | Anybody recognizing the (long lost) external floppy drive on my A1000 in this photo from the 80s? It's not the 1010 nor the 1011 and the led is on the top left. I'm not sure if it was official or some kind of clone. It got zapped when I tried to force it into the serial port by mistake. Sadly I didn't keep it, maybe today I would have been able to fix it... Hi. I need help identifying an Amiga demo with a desert/alien theme.
All I can remember is that I think the demo began with zooming in on "something" in a desert, and it reveals that it's an alien skull(?).
Anyone?

Trying to set this up, although the videos I saw on youtube show a nice color output of the amiga, with a pretty good desktop refresh and overall good performances... Mine is nowhere near what I see on screen, and I have a 030 accelerator board with 128 MB of RAM, so I would expect decent results.
Some use an A4000 with a Picasso card; I have a 1200, so no picasso for me, but I was told that it should work just fine, if I stick with 256 colors. Although that does not seem to work at all.
Is there some witchcraft needed to get shapeshifter to work? I am on OS3.2 BTW
