Subject: New (physical copy) Amiga games in 2022?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Scrolling YouTube I was pleasantly surprised to see some stalwarts were still making Amiga games

https://youtu.be/j73Qg85HOmY

Is there a central repository/ announcements page / e-zine that lists upcoming releases? And - can boxed copies (with feelies) still be bought? I've been out of the scene for decades, sorry if these questions are silly.

Subject: So...which is more popular in 2022: the C64 or the Amiga?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

IIRC, the C64 sold around four times as many units as the Amiga did (12ish million vs 3ish, according to Wikipedia). If you were there at the time, you probably remember the early rivalry. But all of that happened a long, long time ago.

In 2022, which is more popular with retro-tech hobbyists (and why!), in your opinion?

Subject: A1200 DB9 and DB25 replacement source?

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Hi All I'm working on restoring an A1200, and while it's disassembled I want to replace the 2 DB9 and all the DB25 connectors on the main board. Does anyone happen to know the part numbers for a large distributor (eg Mouser, Digikey, Element14) so I can order them - or a supplier that has them? I've searched Mouser, but there's so many different variations I want to be sure I'm ordering the right ones. Thanks!

Subject: Historyline 1914-18 on A500mini

[Reply] [ReplyQuoted] [Headers] [Print]

Did anyone have any luck with getting Historyline 1914-18 to run on the A500mini yet?

When started, the game complains that "CUSTOM1 needs to be set" and terminates immediately.

After some research, it looks like the game needs to be started with the following WHDLoad arguments: "Historyline.Slave PRELOAD CUSTOM1=2"

However, I don't know how to tell the A500mini (or more specifically, the amiberry version running on it) to use these arguments. I've figured out that after opening the game options, a file called "Historyline_v1.5_1569_ol.uae" is created on the USB drive. Based on information found elsewhere, I have manually added the following line to this file:

whdload_custom1=2

Unfortunately, this appears to have no effect, the game still complains, that CUSTOM1 needs to be set...

Is there any other way to enforce using these arguments?
