Subject: Getting a PAL A500 to work in the US
Like many of you, the Amiga was a huge part of my childhood. I bought an A500 with my communion money in 1989, but eventually grew out of it and sold it for a pitiful amount of money, monitor, games and all. I never really knew how it worked, I just knew I’d put the floppy on the drive, wait for the game to load and play. Fast forward a few decades, and I bought one for a pretty good price. No monitor, though. So here’s my question:
I’m visiting my family in France, the A500 is a PAL version. I’m planning on taking it back with me to the US. What do I need once I’m there? Of course, either get a US power supply, or use a power converter for use in a 120V/60Hz circuit, but what else? A thorough recap, maybe? What about a VGA mod (if such a thing exists)? I have so many questions but I don’t know where to start. Thanks for your help!

Subject: Scratching that itch - Being satisfied with modern amiga
I wanted to start a discussion that has probably happened many times before but I am curious how you all have finally scratched your itch to a satisfactory point? My journey started with an Amiga 500 after saving money to upgrade from a C64. Abandonded Amiga in college when I went Unix based and then Linux as a professional.
I wanted to get back into Amiga now that I am older to relive the childhood but can't quite get there yet. I started with WinUAE and that did okay to play some games.
After a few years I went the FPG route with a minimig core. I love the MiSTer but still want the real thing. It played exactly the same but the feel is/was off.
I then bought an Amiga 1000 with a 1084 monitor but that isn't what finally scratched it for me. My unit didn't come with a proper keyboard (ARGGH!) so I am using a non-standard amiga keyboard.
I then realized maybe it was the mouse and keyboard so I ordered the kickstarters for the new keyboard and tank mouse.
I also ordered the PA248QV monitor for my mister setup thinking if I have that and a proper keyboard/mouse it will be good.
I should have just bought a proper A1200 out of the gate. :( Curious what others are doing to get the real feel. I guess the only way to really get it is buy using the machines in their orginal format. No gotek etc.
Subject: Faulty PSU?
When I turn on the PSU for my Amiga 1200 it will not start. I hear a high pitch noise from the PSU.
It is the original PSU model PSM-501-2.
Do I have to replace it? I need a EU plug - is this a good alternative?

-Commodore 1084 monitor
Picasso IV graphics card
Around 200+ floppies with games and programs
3 different types of joysticks
Keyboard, mouse, and various other cables, fans, drives, and replacement parts and the
Original box for the commodore and graphics card.
Subject: New to Amiga: after all, what is that? i want to use!
So i am a IT professional, web designer, front end dev etc, i have also a lot of experience with Linux, and i wanted to use as a daily driver something that is neither windows or linux, and ofc not mac, i studied a lot about AROS, Icaris, Openindiana, Solaris, Haiku etc, i dont want to use something like Haiku because its in Beta, Openindiana seems temptatin, but i wanted to test something like Amiga, the only thing that i want besides office programs and text editors, are a good web browser, that for what i know most amigas dont have things like firefox in newer versions, and i need a good browser because 80% of what i do in internet requieres, btw my question is, how do i get Amiga or something based on Amiga, and should i use as my daily driver?

Subject: A500 1mb chip ram upgrade to physical jumper
I’ve got the rev 6.a board etc and want to make the mod in such a way I can easily revert. I’ve found examples where people have added a switch to each jumper, then drilled out their case, I don’t want to do this.
I don’t like making assumptions. If I remove the solder are there through holes under them?
