Subject: Firing up My newly Acquired 40 year old Amiga BBS Drive. This thing is a beast.
Hi,
The speakers in my Commodore 1084s monitor are failing and I need to replace them. I could go the external speaker route, but in terms of space and aesthetics I would prefer to replace the internal ones. The speakers that were built-in were 77mm 1W 16ohm. I have found drop-in replacements on Aliexpress, but I'm a bit reluctant on the quality (couldn't post the link here but they're the only 77mm 16 ohm 1w speakers on Aliexpress)
Has anyone replaced/upgraded their speakers? All info is welcome :)
Thanks!

I've recently acquired an Amiga 600 and have already upgraded it with a Gotek drive. Over the weekend, I also installed a new Compact Flash IDE Hard Drive along with a 1mb Chip RAM expansion card. I've tried playing games on the CF, and some work. However, I also get memory errors when trying to load some games (specifically "Can't allocate Expmem" and occasionally "Can't allocate Shadmem").
So my question - do I need a Fast Ram expansion to get these games to work? If so, should I go for 4mb or 8mb?

Subject: Help needed for the SUM 1200 keyboard interface
I bought 2 of these (by https://retro.7-bit.pl/) to use external USB keyboards with case-based 1200s and none of the 6 keyboards I have tested work (4 are made by Rii, one is an unbranded from the CheckMate A1500 website, and one is an old Dell).
None work, even after flashing the only firmware update on the retro.7-bit.pl web site.
The company has no listed working keyboards, nor will provide me with any such list; they say the keyboards I am using draw too much power.
Does anyone have a working keyboard connected to a SUM 1200 device they can suggest?

Subject: Is “wear and tear” a concern if I’m about do a few hundred WHDLoad installs on an A500 (w/ ACA500plus)? Should I be using WinUAE and then moving the whole thing over?
Hey folks... I'm interested in exploring the Amiga more. My only experience with it is an NTSC Amiga CD32 that I got off of eBay over a decade ago. Due to the poor game compatibility, I haven't been able to use it much or play many of its games.
I recently found out about the TF330 expansion board that essentially turns a CD32 into an A1200 and am considering getting one. The only thing holding me back is that I already own a MiSTer, I just have never set up the Amiga core.
So I'm trying to figure out - which will give me the better Amiga experience? I like the idea of the TF330 because I'm a sucker for real hardware and would love to get some use out of this system that I've owned for so long. But on the other hand, my MiSTer is just sitting there, waiting to be set up.
The deciding factors to me would be, which system would give me the best compatibility with the most software? And which would work best with my NTSC consumer CRT that I plan to use it with? And if one performs better than the other, that would be a factor, too.
Can anyone enlighten me on these questions?

Subject: The Guardian uses an A500 to illustrate a story about floppy disks
![]() | Just wondering how strange that of all the things I forget (sometimes very important stuff), I can somehow still remember the player name cheat codes for Supercars 2 🙂 Wonderland The Seer Gave you all the stuff and you didn't have to qualify etc. Brilliant!!! Still sticks in my mind, and it pops into my head at random times, a true core memory from 30+ years ago. Back then you couldn't just search for cheats, you had to wait until next month's Amiga mag, or thru word of mouth, knowledge was power then! Does anyone else have permanent game memories from the golden age of the Amiga? [link] [comments] |

in the document here, https://drive.google.com/file/d/1HcC...ew?usp=sharing, mentions devices/cd.h and in there is the CD_RESET = 1. is there something in FS-UAE that has similar calls to the CD reset in the FS-UAE source files?

I was helping out my father in law clean out his attic. I noticed under a blanket an Amiga 4000/40 which he calls "That old thing". I got a screw driver out and opened it up. It seems in good shape.
He has offered to give to me but I told him I'd give him a fair price for it. I just can't these being sold so my question is what do they go for and what is a fair price?
No monitor to test but it powers on.
..... and no I'm not going to say $100 to my dad. I have his daughter to contend with :)

I imported a PAL 1200 from the UK. I searched quite a bit but haven't figured out how to tell the difference between an Escom and a Commodore Amiga 1200.
Mine has a 2B motherboard with Kickstart 3.0 ROMs. The sticker on the bottom says Commodore and Made in the Philippines. I read the floppy drive is different for Escoms. Mine is a Chinon FZ-354.
Is any of this enough to tell the difference between the two?
