Cool! How much, and all the rest. Still waiting on the stimulus money. Could it be because I'm a registered Republican? My daughter asked how much, so she may be thinking of loaning me the money from HER stimulus, which already came in.

It is actually my daughter's. It'll include a keyboard and a charger, no pen - 4gb/128gb SSD. The charger has a cord that is frayed at one end - I've wrapped it with electrical tape. Surface keyboard. $150 sound good? 

That's definitely reasonable. What's the details on the operating system? I would hope for Win-10 pro, but settle for home addition.. My daughter asks what it will cost us with shipping, to this place in Redding, California? She might even be able to do a transfer from her account to yours. Our (her) cell phone number is 530-921-7226 I figure that I can attach one of my external hard drives to it, and do file uploads and maintenance from my bed, where I am, right now, but with far less capability.

Shipping will probably be under $20 - although that might be using USPS priority flat rate mail. I'll check a price at UPS too. I think either way it should be fairly cheap shipping. I just wiped the OS and it is at the setup - I think it is Windows 10 home - although a quick check of my SP5 is Windows 10 Pro - so maybe Pro comes standard on Surfaces. I'll give her a call tomorrow and work out the details.

Cool! Sorry I missed your call, but it's good to have a secretary and spam filter who happens to be my daughter! I'm awake or asleep at all hours of the day and night. Looking forward to the first REAL Microsoft computer I've ever owned. Every one before has been a pc clone or not a pc at all! I don't like Bill Gates - I didn't like either him or Steve Jobs when I met them way back when they presented stuff at Sacramento Microcomputer User Group meetings, back in the late seventies or early eighties. Jobs was a businessman, who knew a computer guru (Bosnian), and Gates was a hacker (old version) who copied the work of others, but didn't give them credit. The original MS-DOS was a ripoff of TRS-DOS. He got rich marketing it to IBM.

Grumble! The computer guru was Steve Wozniac, of course! A stoner who didn't really want to be in business, and a nice guy. I think they were presenting the original Apple pc kit.

This is a very cool story. I missed that era of early computing - it was something your generation was perfectly placed to experience. They were all too big by the time I was old enough - they were locked in their corporate offices in San Jose.
